LLUM 2025
"Miralls del demà" (Mirrors of Tomorrow) was a public art installation that took place during the Llum 2025 festival in Barcelona. This interactive project aimed to explore how people imagine their futures, using a unique fusion of technology, art, and collective creativity. By inviting visitors to share their thoughts and visions, we created a dynamic and immersive experience that showcased the diversity of human imagination.

Vision
The concept behind LLUM 2025
The vision behind "Miralls del demà" was to spark conversations and discussions around various aspects of life in the future. We asked visitors to imagine a hypothetical scenario or share their thoughts on general topics like transportation, food, fashion, and urban planning. Our goal was to encourage people to think creatively about the possibilities and challenges of the future.
Key Objectives
- Create an immersive experience that bridges technology and art
- Visualize collective intelligence through innovative AI techniques
- Foster public engagement with interactive systems
- Explore the relationship between human input and machine interpretation
- Showcase Barcelona's position at the intersection of culture, technology, and innovation

Architecture
System design and components
The installation was set up in the Parc del Poblenou, a green space in the heart of Barcelona. We adapted the existing circular structure to create an immersive environment, hanging microphone holders and installing a curved screen inside the circle. The microphone holders were equipped with ESP32 technology, allowing us to measure proximity and trigger the recording of visitor inputs. The screen displayed the transcriptions, count of inputs, and generated images.

Public installation and impact
During the three-day festival, "Miralls del dema" welcomed visitors from all walks of life. Our AI-powered system transcribed visitor inputs, combined them with a prompt modifier, and generated images that reflected the collective visions of our audience. We used DALL-E 3, a state-of-the-art image generation model, to create visually stunning and coherent images. The exhibition was a huge success, with over 1000 images generated and 3000 voices collected.

Insights
Learnings and discoveries
The data collected during the exhibition provided valuable insights into the hopes and dreams of our audience. We noticed that children were more willing to interact with the installation, often providing humorous and creative inputs. Adults, on the other hand, tended to share more serious and thoughtful visions, often focusing on issues like sustainability, housing, and access to resources. The project also highlighted the importance of collaborative and interactive approaches to understanding human imagination and creativity.
